The University of Tampa is a private university in Tampa, Florida. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Tampa Junior College was transformed into The University of Tampa when its headquarters moved from the local high school to what is now known as Plant Hall. Offering more than 200 programs including 22 master's degrees and a broad variety of majors, minors, pre-professional programs, and certificates, the university is home to 10,000+ enrollments annually. Tuition is $36,614 per year. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks UT in the top tier of the category Regional Universities (South), and for 2022 was included as a most innovative college. The Sykes College of Business and UT’s nursing program were also named as top undergraduate programs Located in the Tampa bay area, which is prominent as a regional cultural center, the university offers a wide variety of recreational avenues. The David A. Straz, Jr. Center for Performing Arts is just a five-minute walk from campus. The Tampa Museum of Art opened in February 2010 and offers traveling exhibitions, a collection of contemporary and classical art, educational programs and outdoor events along Tampa's Riverwalk. The historic Ybor City nightlife, dining and entertainment district is a mere 10 minutes from campus. A 30-minute drive will put visitors at the front gates of Ruth Eckerd Hall, the Florida International Museum, the Mahaffey Theater or the Salvador Dali Museum. Latin American, African, Asian, Caribbean and European influences all add spice to this cultural crossroads. Five major shopping malls and dozens of restaurants are nearby.
