Founded on Dec. 25, 1890 as Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College, OSU has grown to become a premier modern land-grant university. OSU is located in northeast Oklahoma, Stillwater is just 60 miles from both Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Southern Living ranked Stillwater sixth on its list for "The South's Friendliest Cities 2018. OSU’s Honors College curriculum is among the top 10 in the nation and advertises itself as one of the most healthiest campuses in the US with focus on mental health as well as physical fitness. The program coverage is extensive with over 300 majors at the undergraduate level and 200+ options for master / Phd. As a land grant university Science, engineering and humanities research takes place in every college on our campuses, and our Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa. Research at OSU, a Carnegie R1 research university, is relevant, accessible and beneficial — whether it’s exploring basic scientific questions or applied concepts that directly impact lives.
