Founded in 1923 as the Texas Technological college, Texas tech is located on the South plains of West Texas in Lubbock and has since transformed into a campus with 40,000+ enrollments as of 2020. The campus decor is influenced by spanish renaissance architecture while boasting of LEED qualification. Texas tech offers more than 150 undergraduate, 100 graduate and 50+ doctor degrees ranging from agricultural sciences, architecture and engineering to media and law. Students have the opportunity to be part of more than 400+ organization operating on campus. Tuition is $11,600 per year for in-state students and $23,870 per year for out-of-state students.
In 2019, the university achieved status as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) based on 25%+ of the student body comprising of hispanic origin. Some of the keystone activities include carol of lights, which is an annual event held in December to celebrate the holiday season. Athletics is a major theme on campus with Texas tech competing in NCAA division 1 and is a member of the Big 12 conference.
