Located in Tucson, the University of Arizona is a public institution that was founded in 1885. A land-grant institution, Arizona is widely known for its research output and its commitment to solving problems that impact the state and beyond. Students participate in three levels of intramural sports and over 600 clubs and organizations, including more than 50 fraternities and sororities. The Arizona Wildcats, which compete in the NCAA Division I Pac-12 Conference, draw huge crowds. The signature “ZonaZoo,” the student section at sporting events, is revered as a thrilling and defining experience for most undergraduates.
