Founded in 1876, Texas A&M University is a public institution located in College Station, Texas. Originally established as the Agricultural and Mechanical College, a men’s college, the university now offers a wide variety of majors and activities to its coed student population. Included in these programs are its highly ranked Dwight Look College of Engineering, Mays Business School and the College of Education and Human Development. It also has the only veterinary school in Texas. Its many notable alumni include professional athletes, politicians, and scientists.

Texas A&M is known as an academic and athletic powerhouse, offering a rigorous education and winning NCAA Division I teams. The “Aggie Spirit” runs strong throughout campus traditions and student life. Across the 5,200-acre campus, Aggie traditions cultivate an atmosphere of welcome, loyalty, and pride. Of note, the university’s Corps of Cadets is the largest uniformed student body outside the service academies – and its highest-ranking member is the school’s mascot, a collie named Reveille IX, or Miss Rev. Students can choose from more than 1,000 clubs and organizations, including nearly 60 fraternities and sororities. Twenty-five percent of students play in Texas A&M intramural sports leagues, one of the largest programs in the country.
