Founded in 1885, Arizona State University (ASU) is a public institution known for its innovation and contributions to space exploration. ASU’s main campus is in Tempe, but it has three additional campuses in downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic, and West. Its programs in engineering, business, and journalism are highly regarded. Notable alumni include autism advocate Mary Temple Grandin, NFL star and Army veteran Pat Tillman, and Under Armour co-founder Ryan Wood.

ASU’s acceptance rate is 88% and its graduation rate is 56%. ASU’s in-state tuition is $12,698 per year, plus fees; its out-of-state tuition is $32,442 per year, plus fees. Students can choose from over 300 undergraduate programs and more than 400 postgraduate programs. Its enrollment has increased dramatically, exceeding 130,000 students, total. ASU follows a semester-based academic calendar.

The university is known for its active commitment to diversity and inclusion. With students from all 50 states, over 130 countries, 230 tribal nations, ASU is truly a diverse community. Volunteering is a popular activity; the Changemaker Days of Service program brings together thousands of students to volunteer, and ASU was honored on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in 2021 for completing 1.8 million hours of service. Students also engage in the ASU community through more than 1,000 clubs and organizations, or they explore the world through more than 250 study abroad options. Athletics is also a popular attraction; the Arizona State Sun Devils compete in the NCAA Division I Pac-12 Conference. Their football and baseball teams are particularly well known.
