Founded in 1900, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is a private research university based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Originally established as the Carnegie Technical Schools, CMU has its roots in technology and industrial development. Its programs in engineering and computer science are highly regarded nationwide, and its College of Fine Arts has produced numerous famous actors and directors.
