The University of Dayton is a Catholic, Marianist Institution. It has been named the number one Catholic university for engineering. The university, and every aspect of it, is rooted in faith. The university was founded in 1850 in Dayton, Ohio by the Society of Mary. At first, it was a school for boys. In 1920, it assumed its current identity.
