Founded in 1878, Creighton University is a private co-ed Roman Catholic institution located in Omaha, Nebraska. True to its Jesuit heritage, Creighton is known for its commitment to excellent academics and service. It is America’s largest Catholic health professions educator. Notable alumni include TD Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts, as well as NASA astronaut and Columbia crewmember Michael P. Anderson.

Ranked 106 in America, Creighton’s acceptance rate is 64%, and its graduation rate is 80%. The annual tuition is $42,618, plus fees and housing costs. A total of 8,770 students are enrolled. The university is made up of nine schools, which offer over 180 undergraduate and graduate programs. Creighton follows a semester-based academic calendar.
Creighton’s campus is in a classically Midwestern town, known as a friendly place to be with numerous recreational and career options. All freshmen and sophomores are required to live on campus. Over 200 organizations and clubs are available to students, including the campus newspaper, radio station, literary magazine, and yearbook. The Greek community on campus has more than 10 fraternities and sororities, which involve 35% of the student body. Numerous opportunities to engage in ministry, retreats, and community service are also available. Students can study abroad through several different university programs, including “Encuentro Dominico,” a semester-long, service-focused study abroad program in the Dominican Republic. Faculty-led summer abroad programs are also an option. The Creighton Bluejays compete in the NCAA Division I Big East Conference. Off campus, students can explore Omaha’s local restaurants and shops, wander around the Old Market District, or walk across the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, which connects Nebraska and Iowa.
