Founded in 1889, Elon University is a private institution located in Elon, North Carolina. The university is set between Greensboro and the “research triangle” of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Elon is widely known for its top business programs, both for undergraduates and postgraduates. It is also recognized for its focus on experiential learning. Elon’s many notable alumni have pursued successful careers in business, sports, and film and entertainment.

Ranked 83 in the nation, Elon’s acceptance rate is 72%, and its graduation rate is 84%. Undergraduate tuition is $42,241 per year, plus fees; graduate tuition is $18,432 per year, plus fees. The university’s six schools and colleges offer 82 undergraduate majors and 10 graduate programs. A total of 7,117 students are enrolled. Elon follows a semester-based academic calendar. Elon’s campus is often recognized as one of the nation’s most beautiful college campuses. Its 656-acre campus includes a forest and nature preserve; its environmental research farm, Loy Farm, includes a solar farm. Dedicated to community building, the university offers a weekly “College Coffee” program, a tradition in which faculty, staff and students meet for coffee at the Phi Beta Kappa Commons. Students can participate in over 240 clubs and organizations. Elon’s Greek Life includes 35% of the student population. Over 80% of students study abroad, and the university also has a small Honors Program that welcomes 45 incoming freshmen each year. The Phoenix, Elon’s varsity athletic teams, compete in the NCAA Division I Colonial Athletic Association. All first- and second-year students are required to live on campus in one of the residence halls. The university has seven residential neighborhoods. Off campus, students can explore historic Elon, a small town with numerous festivals and events happening throughout the year.
